We have a highly qualified licensed teaching staff!

StaffOur caring and qualified educators guide children through a path of lifelong learning committed to growing the whole child.  Here at Honey Tree Academy, we thoroughly love children and enjoy educating and challenging them to meet their full potential academically and socially! Our Academy Director/Lead Teacher has over 26 years of experience working as a State Certified/Licensed Early Childhood Educator with the Wichita Public Schools, has teaching experience in a preschool, and is licensed by the State to be a Childcare and Preschool Program Director.

Our teaching staff are experienced, licensed educators with teaching degrees. Our entire staff have a KBI background checks, receive required yearly professional development hours,  have current first aid and CPR certification, are trained in signs and symptoms of childhood illness and abuse, child development, and are screened for the use of illegal substances. There exists a positive, cooperative relationship among the staff with a genuine love and respect for one another, your child, and you.

Kimberly Fielding, Academy Founder and Director
Kimberly founded Honey Tree Academy in 2007 in order to provide the highest early childhood educational experience possible to the young children in Kansas. She has been teaching young children in Kansas since 1987. Kimberly received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Wichita State University in 1989, her Early Childhood Certification from Friends University in 2000, her Second Language Certification from Kansas State University in 2000, and finally her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University in 2004. Kimberly currently holds a License/Teaching Certificate in the state of Kansas. Kimberly is a master facilitator and has many accomplishments to her credit, including:

•  Taught and participated on the leadership team in USD 259, the largest school district in Kansas for 20 years.
•  Participated in creating the first Dual Language Immersion Program in the state of Kansas 1996
•  Horace Mann Dual Language Magnet – A Blue Ribbon National School of Excellence
•  Co-Created and presented an integrated, academically challenging, early childhood, hands on curriculum;
•  It’s all in the Bag’ 1997-2000
•  Presented at State Teaching Conference 1997-1998
•  Featured in the 2005 Kansas Pediatric Foundation ‘Give a Kid a Book’ campaign
•  Who’s Who in American Teachers Award 2005
•  Received ‘Good Apple Teacher Award’ 2007

Miss Paula

Paula Watkins, Office Manager
Paula received her Bachelor Degrees in General Studies and Psychology from Wichita State University in 1991. Paula has been a bank teller and customer service banking manager since 1991. Paula will greet you with a smile when you walk in the door! Miss Paula is in charge of our business accounts, banking, and office needs. She excels in fielding questions, helping with our Kid Check student security system, and also assists in our classrooms when necessary. Miss Paula has been with us since 2010.

Angie Massions, Office Assistant
Angie studied International Studies at Wichita State University. Angie has worked in Public Relations and as a sales representative for years. Miss Angie will greet you with a smile when you walk in the door! Miss Angie is in charge of our office needs and supplies. She excels in fielding questions, helping with our Kid Check student security system, and also assists in our classrooms when necessary. Miss Angie has been with us since 2015.

Nedra Myatt, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Nedra received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education degree from Wichita State University in 2010.  Nedra currently holds a Teaching License in the State of Kansas. Nedra has had the opportunity to be preschool teacher for two years, and to substitute for the Wichita Public Schools in grades K-5 for two years.  Nedra is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and differentiation to the children in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and providing technological integration into lessons. Mrs. Myatt has been here since 2014 . She is a teacher in our 3-5 year old classroom, and facilitates P.E. at Branches Academy.

Charissa Mears,  Early Childhood Facilitator and Physical Education Facilitator
Charissa received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education at Tabor College in 2014. Charissa currently holds a Teaching License in the State of Kansas. Charissa has had previous experience as a Sunday School teacher. She is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction, intervention and enrichment strategies to the students in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and observing socialization development of the students. Mrs. Mears is a teacher in our 3-5 year old classroom and a P.E. teacher for our elementary students at Branches Academy. She has been with us since 2014.

Holly Wells, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Holly received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education degree from Kansas Wesleyan in 2004, and her Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology from Emporia State University in 2007. Holly currently holds a Teaching License in the State of Kansas. Holly has had the opportunity to teach technology in Middle School and online education classes for grades fourth through eighth for eight years. Holly is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and differentiation to the children in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and providing technological integration into lessons. Mrs. Wells has been with Honey Tree and Branches Academy since 2010 and is a teacher in our 3-5 year old Pre Kindergarten classroom.

Tracy Kelley, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Tracy received her Bachelor of Arts from WSU in 2011.  She currently holds a Teaching License in the State of Kansas. Mrs. Kelley worked in childcare prior to coming to Honey Tree, and holds a Program Director’s License.  Tracy is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and differentiation to the children in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and providing technological integration into lessons. Mrs. Kelley joined us a substitute teacher in 2017, and became a teacher in our 3-5 year old classroom in 2018.

Ashley Coon, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education Degree from Bethany College in 2010. She was a substitute teacher in Wichita USD 259 and the surrounding areas for 2 years. Mrs. Coon is responsible for small group instruction and intervention groups in our 3-5 year old classroom. She has been with Honey Tree and Branches Academy since 2013.

Courtney Herriage, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Courtney received her Bachelor of Arts from Fort Hays State in 2012.  She is finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.  Courtney currently holds a temporary Teaching License in the State of Kansas. Mrs. Herriage has had the opportunity to be Paraeducator for seven years in Goddard.  Courtney is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and differentiation to the children in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and providing technological integration into lessons. Mrs. Herriage has been here since 2017 . She is a teacher in our Toddler Classroom, and facilitates Art at Branches Academy.

Adriana Garcia, Early Childhood Facilitator

Adriana has been with Honey Tree Academy since 2017.  Mrs. Garcia was a para with USD 259 prior to joining us.  She is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and developmentally appropriate differentiation to the toddlers in the academy. She teaches toddler classroom.

Christine Robison, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Christine received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2010. Christine currently holds a Teaching License. Christine has had experience as a Kindergarten teacher, an Early Childhood Special Education para professional for two years, and was a substitute teacher for four years, all in Missouri.  Christine has been at Honey Tree and Branches Academy since 2012. Christine is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction and  differentiation to the children in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and maintaining student files.  Mrs. Robison is our Primary Grades Elementary Teacher at the Academy.

Amber Steindler, Elementary Educator and Early Childhood Facilitator
Amber received her BS in Elementary Education from Fort Hays in 2008. She was a substitute teacher and para for 3 years in Kansas. Amber is instrumental in providing whole and small group instruction, intervention and enrichment strategies to the students in the academy, assessing the students, documenting their progress, and observing socialization development of the students. Ms. Steindler is our technology teacher at Branches and a teacher in our 2 year old classroom and has been with us since 2017.
 
Miss Ava Honey
Miss Ava is our official school pet. She has passed her Canine Good Citizen test and has her CGC certificate. She is currently working on her training to become a Certified Therapy Dog. Miss Ava provides warmth, kindness, caring, and empathy to our students. She has excellent listening skills and functions well in a counseling capacity! Miss Ava has been a part of our school since 2008.
